MARU
BA THESIS PROJECT (2023)

The internal space of mobility has changed over time. It was a driving space in the past,
now has changed to a private space, and will be a space for relationships in 2040. The living space
of a Hanok is characterized by its organic connections to each other, which is maximized on the
"Maru" where people, nature, and space combine to form a relationship. This relationship is formed
by breaking down the boundaries between things within the same space and creating boundaries between others.

BRACKET FORM (  )

“MARU” embodies the beauty of the scenery to which passengers are destined, and provides
them with a comfortable experience. In that sense, "MARU" is an amalgam of people, nature, and space,
symbolized by "Bracket ( )" which are used to put sentences. For instance, the brown bracket( ) in the exterior
separate the different spaces and the bracket shape in the seats weave people and space together.

4 SEASON MODE
-
SPRING, SUMMER, FALL, WINTER

“MARU” is characterized by an interior mode that captures the seasonal feelings of hanok maru.
The seats and interior walls move according to the mode, which naturally induces a relationship
between passengers. The four modes represent the colorfulness of the four seasons, and we
focused not only on the changing appearance of nature, but also on the changing relationships between
people, as if it were possible to feel the sensitivity of spring inside the mobility even if it is winter outside.
